Glenn decides to re-phrase his controversial statements, and calls the President an anti-semite.
Advertising revenue dropped by more than half in the first few weeks of the boycott against the perverts show, and Gawker has this chart
showing the drop in revenue since he called the President a racist.
So, Katie Couric asks him if he still believes his controversial statement. Here is a link to a YouTube clip It is painful to watch, so I will give you a run-down.
First Katie quotes Glenn and he refuses to backpedal, claims he had a right to say it, and makes a crazy analogy, Katie Couric is sick of his bullshit:
Katie: Are you sorry that you said that, are you sorry at all?
Glenn: I’m sorry that the way it was phrased, we’re living in a soundbite world, really a nasty place to live, and it is a serious question that I think needs serious discussion, and that’s why the next day I talked about it for thirty minutes and laid out the case on why I think it is a serious question and something to seriously look at.
Again, if George Bush would of sat in , and let me ask you this question, if he would of sat in a pew for twenty years, where he had a preacher saying black people are wrong and bad, black people are poisoning white people, would you not question if he immediately made a snap judgment on something, and said the black cop was wrong.
Katie:…pause.. pause.. So you’re bringing it back to Reverend Wright?
Glenn: That’s one example, I mean , I’ve got.. I’ve got thirty minutes and we could go longer on that than we did at, I mean you can go to glennbeck.com and look at all of them.
Clip ends
I guess he must have had second thoughts on calling the president a racist, so in this clip with John Bolton,he tells the same convoluted logic story, except with a new twist. Obama is fine with white people, and presumably Chinese, and Hispanic, he is just anti-semitic. Actually, he does not say he is fine with other races, he is just asking how Obama could possibly not be anti-semitic.
Beck was offered a chance to apologize for calling a bi-racial man that surrounds himself with people of all races, and has done more to further racial justice than anyone in years, a racist. Instead of apoligizing and admitting his mistake, he claims Obama hates Jews. Although, by the end of the clip Bolton and Beck make it sound like he is selling out American exceptionalism, so maybe he hates Americans, or just American Jews, it is hard to tell which.
Glenn Beck’s Rosh Hashanah present to Jews seems to be ‘the President hates you, be afraid’
Includes the great line, “not all nations are created equal”, which would be great for a re-mix project.
